Track the cue, not “dopamine levels”

A dopamine detox app for changing the loop you can actually observe

Reclaim does not claim to drain dopamine or reset your brain. It helps you track the observable loop around scrolling, gaming, porn, or another high-stimulation habit: the cue, the urge, the action, and what you try next.

Replace the vague “detox” score with a record of cues, friction, urges, and next actions.

dopamine detox app

The useful part of a dopamine detox happens before the tap

You may open a short-video app after a difficult meeting, reach for a game when work feels ambiguous, or keep the phone beside the bed because silence feels uncomfortable. Calling all of that “too much dopamine” hides the part you can change: the cue and the path that follows it.

A realistic digital reset changes one path at a time. Move the app, disable a notification, leave the phone outside the bedroom, or add a ten-minute delay. Reclaim provides a place to record whether that change survived the next ordinary day.

The streak is only one signal. Mood scores, tags, journal notes, and check-in patterns can show which moments deserve a better plan. The app cannot measure dopamine, diagnose compulsive behavior, or prove that abstaining from stimulation has reset the brain.

Use the app as a field note for digital habits

Each feature answers a practical question: what started the loop, what interrupted it, and what should change before the cue returns?

Track the behavior you chose to change — Reclaim home screen showing daily check-in and current streak count

01

Track the behavior you chose to change

Create a daily check-in for social media, gaming, porn, or another supported digital habit.

Record the day and one trigger tag instead of trying to score every source of stimulation. A narrow target makes the record easier to interpret.

Connect urges to mood and time — Mood tracking analytics with trend charts and check-in heatmap

02

Connect urges to mood and time

Add a five-level mood score, review trends, and look for repeated trigger tags.

A pattern such as “late, tired, phone in bed” is actionable. A guessed dopamine level is not. The charts show only the data you enter.

03

Insert a pause before automatic use

Open SOS 4-7-8 breathing, read your personal mantra, and decide the next action after the pause.

Use the pause to create distance, change rooms, or contact someone. Breathing is a brief support tool, not a treatment for addiction or anxiety.

How to decide

Reclaim is a tracker, not a phone blocker

Some people need hard app limits, device-level blocking, or parental controls. Reclaim is designed for reflection and daily recovery records, so the fit depends on the missing part of your plan.

Reclaim may fit if

  • you want to track a digital habit with mood and trigger context
  • you are testing friction changes and need a daily record
  • you want a brief breathing prompt when an urge becomes automatic
  • you want to keep the record after a slip instead of abandoning the plan

Choose more specialized support if

  • you need enforced app blocking or screen-time controls
  • you want a device to measure or “reset” dopamine
  • the behavior involves exploitation, illegal content, or immediate safety risk
  • depression, self-harm, substance use, or severe loss of control needs professional care

Seven-day test

Run a seven-day friction experiment

Choose one behavior and one environmental change. If you change five apps at once, the record will not tell you which change mattered.

  1. 1

    Name one loop

Write the behavior, the usual time, and the cue that most often starts it.

  2. 2

    Add one barrier

Move the app, silence the notification, change the charging place, or delay opening by ten minutes.

  3. 3

    Record the result

At check-in, note mood, cue, whether the barrier held, and the next smaller adjustment.

A digital reset has limits

Reclaim is a self-monitoring and reflection tool, not medical care. Do not rely on an app alone for dangerous withdrawal, overdose risk, severe intoxication, suicidal thoughts, self-harm risk, or any situation that needs diagnosis or treatment. Contact local emergency services, a clinician, a crisis service, or a trusted person when safety is at risk.
