Information We Collect
KintsuLabs collects only the information necessary to provide and improve our services across both Reclaim and App Screens Studio.
- Account Information (Reclaim): When you create a Reclaim account, we collect your phone number for SMS-based authentication. We do not require your name or email address to sign up.
- Account Information (App Screens Studio): When you use App Screens Studio, we may collect your email address for account creation and authentication.
- Image Uploads: When you use App Screens Studio, you may upload images such as app screenshots and promotional graphics. These images are stored to enable screenshot creation and template rendering.
- Template Usage Data: We collect information about which templates you select and customize within App Screens Studio to improve our template offerings.
- Usage Data (Reclaim): We collect information about how you interact with Reclaim, including features used, recovery progress tracked, streak data, mood analytics, AI coaching interactions, session duration, and in-app actions.
- Usage Data (App Screens Studio): We collect information about how you interact with App Screens Studio, including templates used, screenshots created, and session duration.
- Device and Browser Information: We collect device type, operating system version, app version, and unique device identifiers for Reclaim. For App Screens Studio, we collect browser type, browser version, screen resolution, and operating system to ensure compatibility and diagnose technical issues.
How We Use Your Information
KintsuLabs uses the information we collect to operate, maintain, and improve both Reclaim and App Screens Studio.
- Provide and maintain our services: Your account information is used to authenticate you and deliver core functionality. For Reclaim, this includes recovery tracking, streak monitoring, mood analytics, and AI coaching. For App Screens Studio, this includes screenshot creation, template rendering, and image management.
- Improve our products: Usage data helps us identify areas for improvement, fix bugs, and develop new features across both Reclaim and App Screens Studio.
- Personalize your experience: We may use usage patterns to suggest relevant templates in App Screens Studio or provide tailored recovery insights in Reclaim.

- Supabase (Database and Authentication): Supabase serves as our primary backend infrastructure, providing database hosting, user authentication, and secure data storage for both Reclaim and App Screens Studio. Supabase is an open-source platform, and your data is stored in their managed PostgreSQL databases with encryption at rest and in transit.
- Resend (Email Delivery): Resend handles transactional email delivery and newsletter distribution on our behalf. When we send you account verification emails, security alerts, service updates, or marketing communications, Resend processes your email address and message content to facilitate delivery.
- AI Service Providers (AI Coach Functionality): We use third-party AI service providers to power the AI Coach feature in Reclaim. When you interact with the AI Coach, your conversation inputs and relevant context data are processed by these providers to generate personalized guidance. We do not share your identity or account information with AI providers beyond what is necessary to deliver the coaching response.
We do not sell or rent your personal data to any third-party provider. Each provider is contractually obligated to use your data solely for the purposes described above and in accordance with applicable data protection laws.
Legal Basis for Processing
KintsuLabs processes your personal data in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and relies on the following legal bases for each category of processing activity.
- Consent: We rely on your freely given consent for optional data processing activities, including analytics and performance tracking, marketing communications and newsletters, and non-essential cookies. You may withdraw your consent at any time through your account settings or by contacting us, without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.
- Contract Performance: We process certain personal data as necessary to fulfill our contractual obligations to you. This includes providing core service functionality such as account creation, authentication, recovery tracking in Reclaim, screenshot creation in App Screens Studio, and delivering the features you have subscribed to or requested.
- Legitimate Interest: We process personal data where we have a legitimate business interest that is not overridden by your rights and freedoms. This includes maintaining the security and integrity of our services, preventing fraud and abuse, diagnosing and resolving technical issues, and making improvements to our products based on aggregated usage patterns. We conduct balancing tests to ensure our legitimate interests do not unduly impact your privacy.
Data Retention
KintsuLabs retains your personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, comply with legal obligations, and resolve disputes.
- Account Data: Your account information (phone number for Reclaim, email address for App Screens Studio) is retained for as long as your account remains active. Upon account deletion, your account data is permanently removed within 30 days.
- Usage Data: Aggregated and anonymized usage data, including feature interactions, session metrics, and navigation patterns, is retained for up to 24 months for product improvement and analytics purposes. Individual usage records are anonymized after 12 months.
- Uploaded Images: Images uploaded to App Screens Studio are retained for as long as your account is active. Upon account deletion, all uploaded images are permanently deleted within 30 days.
- AI Coaching Data: Conversation logs and context data from Reclaim AI Coach interactions are retained for up to 90 days to support continuity of coaching sessions, after which they are automatically deleted.
- Communication Records: Records of emails and service notifications sent to you are retained for up to 12 months for compliance and troubleshooting purposes.
- Backup and Recovery: Encrypted backups containing your data may persist for up to 30 days after deletion from our primary systems as part of our disaster recovery procedures, after which they are permanently purged.

Data Storage and Security
KintsuLabs implements industry-standard security measures to protect your data across all of our products.
- Your data is stored securely using Supabase, a trusted open-source backend platform with built-in security features, for both Reclaim and App Screens Studio.
- All data transmitted between your device or browser and our servers is encrypted using TLS (Transport Layer Security).
- Data at rest is encrypted and access is restricted to authorized personnel only.
- Images uploaded to App Screens Studio are stored in secure, encrypted cloud storage and are accessible only to the account holder.
- We regularly review our security practices and update them as needed to address emerging threats.
International Data Transfers
KintsuLabs may transfer your personal data to countries outside your country of residence, including countries that may not provide the same level of data protection as your home jurisdiction. We take appropriate safeguards to ensure your data remains protected in accordance with this Privacy Policy and applicable law.
- Our infrastructure providers, including Supabase and Resend, may process and store data in data centers located in the United States and other regions. When data is transferred from the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, or Switzerland to countries without an adequacy decision, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved by the European Commission as the legal mechanism to ensure adequate protection.
- We also implement supplementary technical and organizational measures, including encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, and contractual data processing agreements with all third-party providers, to safeguard your data during and after transfer.

- Data Portability: You have the right to receive your personal data in a structured, commonly used, and machine-readable format, and to transmit that data to another controller without hindrance, in accordance with GDPR Article 20.
- Right to Object: You have the right to object to the processing of your personal data where that processing is based on our legitimate interests, in accordance with GDPR Article 21. Upon receiving your objection, we will cease processing your data for the relevant purpose unless we demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds that override your interests, rights, and freedoms.
- Opt Out: You can opt out of non-essential data collection and communications at any time through the app settings.
- Supervisory Authority Complaint: If you believe that our processing of your personal data infringes applicable data protection laws, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority in the EU member state of your habitual residence, place of work, or place of the alleged infringement.

Age Restrictions
KintsuLabs services are intended for users who are at least 16 years of age, in accordance with Article 8 of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). If you are between 16 and 18 years of age, you should review this Privacy Policy with a parent or guardian.
Separately, in compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), KintsuLabs does not knowingly collect, use, or disclose personal information from children under the age of 13. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected personal data from a child under 13, we will take prompt steps to delete that information from our systems.
